The Tax Practitioners' Institute is a two day overview Group-Live and Group-Internet Based Program. There are no prerequisites or advanced preparation needed for this course. This course is recommended for Certified Public Accountants, Registered Tax Return Preparers, Enrolled Agents, Insurance Providers, Financial Planners and Lawyers.

This instructor led, two-day course is a tax update seminar focused on various current developments in federal taxation, tax planning opportunities, and tax compliance issues. This course is intended for tax professionals and is designed to provide up-to-date information on federal tax updates and federal tax law.
Day One is a tax update seminar focused on various current developments in federal taxation, tax planning opportunities, and tax compliance issues. This instructor led course will cover many topics including New Legislation, Rulings and Cases, Capitalization or Repair, Small Business Issues, Entity Selection, Passive Activities, Individual Taxpayer Issues, and Marriage Tax Aspects.
Day one will also include an IRS Update from Ann Makres, from the Internal Revenue Service. Ann will cover updates to federal tax programs and procedures. This instructor led course will cover many topics including the EITC Due Diligence Requirements, Education Credits, Audit Reconsideration, Offer-in-Compromise, and the Online Payment Agreement Application.
Day Two is intended for tax professionals and is designed to provide up-to-date training on current tax law and regulations. The program will provide insight into recently enacted legislation, recent rulings and cases of relevance to tax practice, and ag-specific tax issues including gifting of grain and paying wages in-kind. Current developments with respect to the 2010 health care law and its impact on small businesses and their employees will be addressed. Also covered will be issues relating to professional employees and homeowners, and tax issues facing practitioners with older clients. Various retirement plan rules will be addressed as will NOLs.
We will also be offering a two hour Ethics Course on Day One. This instructor lead course on ethics is designed to help the tax return preparer understand ethical considerations including best practices, ACA abuse potential, information security, and issues related to 1099s, W-2's, and reasonable compensation. The rules and regulations governing the tax profession and the practical application of these rules in the daily operation of their businesses will be discussed including the compliance requirements of Treasury Department Circular 230 in their practice before the Internal Revenue Service (IRS).
There are no prerequisites or advanced preparation needed to attend the Institute.
