Education Abroad Alumni
You went abroad and now you are back at UND. How do you stay connected to your study abroad experience? Our office provides a number of opportunities to talk about the re-entry process, put study abroad on your resume, and inspire prospective study abroad students to attend your program. Below are some of those opportunities:
Unpacking Your Baggage Sessions
The International Center provides two sessions to help you acclimate back into life in the U.S. The sessions are free to education abroad participants and occur at the beginning of the Fall and Spring semesters.
Re-Entry into the U.S.
This session is a get together to share your stories from while you were abroad with everyone else returning to UND from abroad. You will also have the chance to learn about reverse culture shock and how to get involved with international/cultural events and organizations on campus and in the Grand Forks community.
Fall 2017: Wednesday 8/30, 4:00pm, Badlands Room
Resumes, Interviews, and Post-Grad Options
In collaboration with Career Services, this session is meant to help you maximize your experiences from abroad and the skills you gained and incorporate them into your resume, cover letters, and interviews. You will have an opportunity to work with Career Coordinators on your resume in a small group basis. You will also learning about popular post-grad options for study abroad alums, including career fields and graduate school programs. More information on Career Services can be found on their website or through email.
Fall 2017: TBD
Student Leaders International
Student Leaders International (SLI) is a student organization for students who have studied abroad. SLI’s purpose is to give students a chance to share their study abroad experiences with each other, along with helping to promote, in collaboration with the International Center, study abroad to other students on campus and meeting with students who have been accepted to study abroad programs for a future term to help prepare them for their term abroad. Interested in joining? Contact Education Abroad or send an email for more information.

University of North Dakota
2901 University Ave Stop 7109

Your one responsibility in this process is to ensure a transcript from you host program is sent to the International Center.
Blog For Us
We would love to hear about your journey as an alum of study abroad! Guest bloggers are always welcome to write about topics such as their experience with their program, the re-entry process, or an update on how study abroad helped their career. Please email Emily if you are interested in guest blogging.
Get Involved with Our Office
Looking for opportunities to get involved with our office? Have ideas on how to promote your study abroad program for other students? Let us know! We are always looking for new ideas on how to reach students for study abroad and we welcome volunteers. If you are interested send us an email.
Interested in going abroad again? With faculty-directed programs, internships and other opportunities over the summer and semester there are a number of options for going abroad again.
We partner with Career Services to make sure the program you are looking into will fulfill the requirements you need. A number of our affiliate providers offer opportunities to intern abroad for credit. Examples are CEA, ISA, and API, among others.
Here at UND we are growing our number of short-term study abroad programs. Offerings include trips to China, Sweden, London and Japan. Keep an eye on our website for the most up-to-date information.
There are many opportunities to volunteer abroad, but you will need to do research to find the right one for you. While our office does not provide volunteer opportunities we can assist in connecting you to a few options.
"What are your plans after graduation?" - everyone's favorite question! Could those plans involve another trip abroad? Opportunities like graduate school abroad or teaching English as a second language provide a structured way to go abroad again.
