The University of North Dakota is a Carnegie Doctoral/Research-Intensive Institution. UND has over 15,000 students, including about 1,000 international students. International Scholars, consisting of professors, researchers, medical residents, and professional, number nearly 200 individuals at UND’s four campuses (Grand Forks, Fargo, Bismarck, and Minot).
UND places an emphasis on research and currently specializes in research involving health sciences, nutrition, energy and environmental protection, aerospace, and engineering. Several research institutions are located on the UND campus including the Energy & Environmental Research Center, School of Medicine & Health Sciences, and the USDA Human Nutrition Research Center.
