Get a Mentor
The International Peer Mentor program is designed to help you adapt better to a new environment and different academic system. The program is an integral part of welcoming first year international students to the University of North Dakota campus. Our Peer Mentors are a mix of current international and domestic students who volunteer to help you settle in and adjust to life in Grand Forks.
We will match you with a mentor who is of the same nationality and/ or field of study. In the event that we are unable to match you with someone of the same cultural background we will match you with someone from the region or who has studied abroad in the region. The program is available to everyone, undergraduate and graduate students, and is a great way to get to know other students. You do not need to sign up for this program. Every new international student will be matched with a mentor.
Prior to your arrival you will receive an email from your mentor. You will be able to ask questions about living in Grand Forks, housing and travel arrangements, class registration and more. Your mentor offers a wealth of knowledge and will be a great resource for
Please keep in mind that all our mentors are volunteers who are interested in helping out and meeting new people. Your mentor will not be able to pick you up from the airport in Fargo or Minneapolis or take you on road trips.
