The Office of International Programs has teamed up with the Memorial Union to hold the cultural nights in the Loading Dock. The program is free and food will be available for $1.00. We look forward to seeing you in the Loading Dock.

LGBTQA Panel Discussion: Body Image
You are invited to a panel discussing Body Image in the Gay World on Thursday, January 31st from 11:30am to 12:30pm. This panel is a chance to hear from a variety of people within the LGBTQA community as they talk about body image, its challenges within gay culture, and how it has affected them at UND. This event is hosted by the Student Involvement and Leadership Office, UND Women's Center, and Health and Wellness and is a part of Love Your Body Week – a week long focus on taking care of your body and loving who you are. Free lunch will be provided.
Financial Wellness
UND Financial Wellness Services invites all students to their GRAND OPENING on February 1, 2013 from 10:00AM to 2:00PM in McCannell Hall, Rm 400.
Financial Wellness will offer FREE services to help students create a spending plan, learn about credit and credit scores, financial aid, and many other financial needs! There will be FREE PIZZA starting at 11:00AM and an opportunity to win $100 gift card to the UND Bookstore. Come take advantage of what Financial Wellness has to offer! Study Abroad Fair 2013
Come and check out the semi-annual Study Abroad Fair for Spring 2013. It will be held at the Loading Dock in the Union during 11:00am - 3:00pm on Wednesday February 6, 2013. You will be able to meet with Study Abroad providers, interested faculty members, returning students, exchange students and Study Abroad advisors there, and browse through the 300+ programs we have available for UND students.

Ski UND
Trails behind the Wellness Center and along the English Coulee will be groomed for classic and skate cross country skiing (Snow/Weather Dependent). You can bring your own skis or rent skis for FREE (UND/Wellness Center ID required for rental) from the Wellness Center Front Desk (2hr maximum).
Trails and Rentals will open on Tuesday, January 8th 2013 and end on March 8th 2013 or snow melt, whichever comes first.

Late Night Skate
Beginning January 11th, the University Park Warming House and ice rink will be open until 11pm on Fridays and Saturdays. Skates will be available for FREE to UND students, faculty and staff (UND ID required for rental). Skates are limited.
The Late Night Skate runs until March 9th or until ice melt, whichever comes first.

Free Leadership Conference
The UND Student Involvement and Leadership Office is hosting a free leadership conference themed around "What does it mean to be a leader?" on February 9, 2013 from 9:30am-3:00pm. The conference will feature a keynote speaker and four separate program breakout sessions which will focus on five categories of leadership: organization leadership, personal leadership, professional leadership, community leadership, and global leadership. Presentations will be executed by members of the UND community. Everyone is welcome to come whether you are connected to a student organization or position of leadership, or just want to enhance your own development.
After attending the conference, participants will be able to:
• identify ways to be a leader in different settings within and beyond UND.
• motivated to influence their peers to accomplish positive change.
• have an understanding of the broad realms of leadership.
• begin to self-identify personal leadership styles/characteristics.
• identify at least one action step they could do in the spring 2013 semester to positively impact the UND community through their leadership.

Get help with your tax returns...for free!
The Public Interest Law Students Association (PILSA) is pleased to announce the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program for 2013 (2012 tax year). The VITA program offers free tax help to people who need assistance in preparing their individual income tax return. IRS-certified volunteers provide basic income tax return preparation with electronic filing at no cost. Volunteers are IRS certified to prepare U.S. citizen, resident, and non-resident returns (international students).
No appointment is necessary, first come, first served. There is no cost to have a VITA volunteer prepare your return.

Peer Educator Job
10 Hours per week
$7.50 per hour
Areas of focus:
* General Health (one position)
* Sexual Health (one position)
* Alcohol and Other Drugs (multiple positions)
Peer Educators serve as a positive role model to UND students by demonstrating good judgment, ethical behavior and respect for others and self, especially in relation to health and wellness issues. Expectations of the position are as follows: 1) Complete weekly research on best practice standards in Health Promotion, 2) Develop program, presentations and outreach initiatives for UND students, 3) Exhibit a non-judgmental, caring attitude and show respect for diversity, and 4) All other duties as assigned.
The Alcohol and Other Drugs Peer Educators, in addition to the above expectations, facilitate Peer-Assisted Self-Assessments with students who have been found in violation of UND's alcohol policies by the Dean of Students or Residence services. These Peer Educators will be trained in motivational interviewing and to teach the CHOICES About Alcohol classes.

Open Board Positions with UPC
The University Program Council (UPC) has open board positions for Diversity Coordinator and Graphic Designer.
UPC is a Division of Student Government that hosts social and educational events for UND students throughout the year. UPC members have the opportunity to plan, organize, and host a variety of events ranging from small social gatherings to University-wide events. In addition, members will also have the ability to work in a team setting, co-program with a variety of student organizations, and develop strong leadership skills.
The Diversity Coordinator is responsible for selecting and organizing diversity events for UND that serve as an educational tool across cultural lines. Past events included speakers related but not limited to: African American, Asian, and Hispanic heritage; social issues; and LGBTQ issues. The Diversity Coordinator works with the UPC Advisor and Chairperson in developing performer contracts and budgets for events. The Diversity Coordinator is responsible for coordinating with the UPC Marketing Team as well as other student organizations for the promotion of events. The position requires 5-10 hours per week, which includes attending meetings, staffing events, and working on new programing ideas. The Diversity Coordinator is a volunteer position and is open to all majors.
The Graphic Designer is responsible for designing promotional material for upcoming UPC events. The Graphic Designer also contributes ideas to the overall marketing plan of UPC. This position requires 5-10 hours per week, which includes attending meetings, staffing events, and working on promotional material. This position is a volunteer position.
UPC meets every Wednesday at 6pm. Interested students can pick up an application packet at the Student Government Office, located on the first floor of the Memorial Union. Please have students contact UPC at und.upc@email.und.edu if they have any questions.

The Alexia Foundation Grants 2013
The Alexia Foundation has announced an upcoming grant opportunity to provide grants to student photographers to give them the financial ability to produce substantial stories that drive change in the effort to make the world a better place.
Student Rules:
You are encouraged to consider stories that explore cultural understanding in or near you local community. While we do not discourage proposals on foreign topics, the judges give no extra weight to foreign topics.
The deadline for the student grants is Friday, Feb. 1, 2013, at 5 p.m. Eastern time.
Lakselaget Offers Scholarships to Minnesota and Norwegian Women
Application Deadline: March 1, 2013
Minnesota-based Lakselaget (Norwegian for "The Salmon Club") will be offering scholarships for the tenth time in its eleven-year history.
Lakselaget offers scholarships to Minnesota women desiring to study in Norway and to Norwegian women wishing to study in Minnesota or at the University of North Dakota, Grand Forks. The organization also provides grants to Minnesota professional women who have an opportunity to work in Norway and to Norwegian women who have an opportunity to work in Minnesota. The grants are meant to supplement wages lost for experience gained. Applicants should have an interest in contemporary Norway and in the sciences, technology, business, politics, language and culture, or in the cooperation between the countries.

The application deadline for the professional grant is Friday, Jan. 18, 2013 at 5 p.m. Eastern time. (Applications will be accepted from 15 November 2012 only.)
