I'm currently the Executive Director of Prevent Child Abuse North Dakota.
How has your study abroad experience influenced your career decisions/life decisions?
Studying abroad really broke me out of the cardboard box my mind was living in. I realized that the world offered many more lessons than classes ever could, and I grew passionate about language, culture and world affairs. I also started to become more sensitive to humanitarian injustices. I didn't expect one year of studying abroad to alter my path as much as it did, but because of its influence I later served in the Peace Corps in Africa, studied Mandarin in Beijing, and acquired an M.A. in International Development Education. My current profession is honing my abilities for another return abroad, and I can't wait. ;)
