American Institute for Foreign Study (AIFS) offers a variety of programs of study at Stellenbosch University in South Africa. Stellenbosch (population 90,000) is located in the Jonkershoek Valley, a 30-minute drive from Cape Town. Residents of this culturally rich city enjoy a year round Mediterranean-like climate. Students can select a wide range of classes taught in English and can also get involved with volunteer work at a township close to the University. Included in the program fees are excursions to Cape Town, Robben Island, the Cape of Good Hope and the Cederberg Mountains. A 6-day tour of the Garden Route is also included for all students, with stops for encounters with wildlife like ostriches, crocodiles, cheetahs, monkeys, and elephants.
