About Learning & Development
Learning & Development (L&D) is an educational benefit offered to staff by UND's Office of Human Resources. It is a supplemental learning program that includes sessions and mentoring services to help people improve in different dimensions.
We embrace our role with enthusiasm and passion. For us, it's all about ensuring UND staff have every opportunity to learn, grow and connect. We approach our work according to the following guiding principles:
- Commitment to lifelong learning
- Support the diverse learning and development needs
- Involvement of staff in the creation and implementation of programming
- Plan for the future by developing leaders from within the University
We work to earn the position of trusted partner, advisor, coach, and facilitator. We look for and act upon opportunities for collaboration with others in the University community by promoting cooperative goals, making connections and providing support. We can help you choose the learning and development opportunities that are right for you and/or your department. Just call or send us an email. We're here to help! Contact Us
The Learning & Development program strives to empower staff to achieve professional and individual growth through accessible and meaningful instruction.
Through a culture of learning, gather, and collaboration we will enhance the quality of life for staff, and assist in enriching the UND student experience.
To coordinate and deliver training that supports the University's strategic initiatives for the development and advancement of staff.
The Learning & Development program, formerly known as University within the University (U2) was established in 1997 as a result of a Presidential Initiative by former UND President, Kendall Baker. It was created to coordinate and expand the way UND addresses the professional development and training needs of staff.
The goal of the program remains the same; making UND a living and learning community, an organization that puts its people first and one where staff are given opportunities to improve themselves, opportunities to grow, change and learn. Having such a program improves morale, productivity, and better positions UND for the future.
As a campus, the Learning & Development program is a way to model what we want our students to become – fully committed to lifelong learning and continuous personal and professional growth. Doing so allows us to remain competitive in our state, and in our ever-changing and global marketplace.
