General Education Requirements (GERs)

In 2008, the University of North Dakota implemented a new program in general education: Essential Studies (ES). Students who started at UND before ES still use the older General Education Requirements (GERs) for their general education.

You are under the GERs if:

• You first enrolled at UND as a freshman before Fall 2008, or
• You transferred to UND and enrolled before Fall 2009.

You are under Essential Studies if your first enrollment at UND was:

• Freshman: Fall 2008 or later
• Transfer: Fall 2009 or later
