Formatting Information for Writers
There are many formatting options for papers. The format you use will depend on your academic discipline or the type of course for which you are writing.
APA Format and Documentation: APA format and documentation is generally used for papers in the social sciences. You will likely use APA style in courses in psychology, education, nursing, social work, aviation, and business, among others.
MLA Format and Documentation: MLA format and documentation is generally used in the humanities. You will likely use MLA style in courses in English and languages.
Chicago / Turabian Format and Documentation:Chicago / Turabian format and documentation may be used in the humanities, social sciences, or some physical and natural sciences. At UND, you will likely use Chicago / Turabian style in history courses.
UND Thesis / Dissertation Style Guide: Theses and dissertations must be prepared according to the Style and Policy Manual for Theses and Dissertations to be accepted by the Faculty Advisory Committee and the Dean of the Graduate School in partial fulfillment of the requirements for the masters and doctoral degrees at the University of North Dakota.
