Get a First Look at UND Life at Orientation
Steven Almer came to UND from Colorado because he was interested in our Engineering program. He attended New Student Orientation to learn more about the program, and what else UND had to offer him, before classes started.
All students enrolled in UND for the Fall 2017 semester should plan to attend New Student Orientation between June 5 – July 13 to get ready for the fall semester. New Student Orientation is a 1-day program (2 days for Aerospace students) that is focused on students’ academic majors. If a student hasn’t decided on a major, there is an orientation session for undeclared majors as well.
Orientation is highly recommended for all students, because it’s the perfect time for students to learn more about UND and meet other UND students. While at Orientation, students will:
- Register for classes after discussing their academic goals one-on-one with an academic advisor.
- Visit with student services departments about financial aid, housing and more.
- Learn about the expectations of a university environment.
- Connect with new UND students who have similar academic interests.
- Meet with faculty from their major to learn more about their degree program.
- Get answers to any and all questions they may have.
Reservations for New Student Orientation will open on Saturday, January 21 at 9 a.m CST. Beginning in early January (or shortly after students are accepted to UND), they’ll receive information on how to make their online reservations. A non-refundable fee will be charged to help cover the cost of programming, materials and food.
NOTE: Students must pay their Enrollment Confirmation Deposits prior to making Orientation reservations. Students are encouraged to pay their deposits as soon as they know they're coming to UND, because the sooner they pay, the more choices they’ll have for Orientation sessions.
If students are still unsure whether UND is the right place for them, we recommend attending Admitted Student Day on Friday, March 3. At this event, they'll get the chance to actually experience what it's like to be a student at UND.
