Director's Corner Welcome
Director of Admissions
Welcome back! With the start of the 2017-18 academic year, it's time once again to begin our COUNSELOR FUNDAMENTALS eNewsletter series. I hope our monthly UND updates will be helpful to you and your students as they prepare for college.
Top 25 Most Innovative Schools
One thing I'm especially excited about is UND being named in the Top 25 Most Innovative Schools by U.S. News & World Report. With schools such as Stanford, Harvard and Yale on this list, we're so proud the innovative spirit of UND is being recognized.
U.S. News & World Report also ranked UND 102 in Top Public Schools and 192 on the list of the Best National Universities, both of which were increases from last year.
Growing Freshman Class
Another win for UND is the fact that our incoming freshman class has grown in size, quality and diversity, even after the budget challenges the University faced last year.
Incoming freshmen are up by nearly one percent, transfer students are up five percent and students seeking professional degrees have risen four percent. The freshmen class includes a record-high 11 National Merit Scholars, as well as being a more diverse class than last year.
Eye of the Hawk Lecture Series
One of the many new initiatives developed by President Mark and First Lady Debbie Kennedy I wanted to mention is the Eye of the Hawk Lecture Series. This series is a way to bring the UND community together to discuss important topics with preeminent experts. Check out future and past lectures here.
Thank you for all you do for your students! If you have any questions or have an idea for something to feature in an upcoming issue, feel free to contact me at jason.trainer@UND.edu or 701.777.3791.
