Mark your calendars for the North Dakota Department of Health’s Preventing and Responding to Injuries Conference coming to the Bismarck-Mandan area in Oct. 3-4. The purpose of the conference is to encourage professionals to develop a multi-faceted approach to promoting awareness, prevention and intervention of both intentional and unintentional injuries in North Dakota.
The conference will feature several well known speakers from across the country and North Dakota.
Keynote Speakers include:
- Don Moseman, Sure Destination Center for Safety - “The Past, Present and Future of Traffic Safety”
- David Lee, Prevent Connect, CALCASA - “Building Comprehensive Primary Prevention”
- Hollie Hendrickson, National Conference of State Legislators - “Developing Effective Legislation Starts with Communication: How to Engage Lawmakers”
- Anna Briggs, Corey Campbell, and Kaylan Stinson - “Occupational Health Indicators in North Dakota 2004-2008”
- D.C. Faber, retired U.S. Army and Wyoming National Guard officer - “Challenging Core Assumptions: The Faber Post-Trauma Model and Post Traumatic Growth”
- Carol Meidinger, child passenger safety consultant - “Buckling Up Through the Lifespan”
Also featured will be several breakout sessions with opportunities to listen to speakers on traffic safety, domestic and sexual violence, general injury prevention, suicide prevention, and child passenger safety.
Continuing education credits and contact hours (CEU, POST, and CECH) have been requested for nurses, social workers, licensed counselors, law enforcement, emergency medical services, and domestic violence advocate certification hours.
