A biting, new, dark comedy by Pulitzer prize-winning playwright David Lindsay-Abaire is on stage at the Fire Hall Theatre. Margie Walsh, a single mom in south Boston, has just been fired from her job at the Dollar Store. She's had one bad turn of events after another, and living on the street with her disabled daughter seems like a very real possibility. When she hears that an old boyfriend who has made good as a doctor is back in town, her friends encourage her to go ask him for a job. What follows will leave the audience questioning what does it mean to be "good people" and is the American dream feasible for all? This play is guaranteed to have audiences talking abou it after the leave the theatre. Strong language, not intended for children.
There will be two Sunday matinees, Sept. 9 and 16, at 2 p.m., followed by a discussion facilitated by Bret Weber, Social Work, and a representative of the GF Mission. Bring two non-perishable food times and receive $1 off admission.
