Photographer Julie Blackmon will present free public lectures Tuesday and Wednesday, Oct. 16-17, in the Hughes Fine Arts Center Paul E. Barr Memorial Lecture Room, 227. The events are open to the public.
Julie Blackmon lives and works in Springfield, Mo. Her photographs are inspired by her experience of growing up in a large family, her current role as both mother and photographer, and the timelessness of family dynamics. She is best known for her series, Domestic Vacations, and is represented by many galleries, including Robert Man Gallery in New York City, Catherine Edelman Gallery in Chicago, and the Photographers’ Gallery in London. She was awarded the American Photo’s Emerging Photographer in 2008 and in 2006 won the Critical Mass Book Award for Domestic Vacations. Her photographic works are in many collections, including The George Eastman House, The Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art, the Kemper Museum of Contemporary Art, and the Elton John Collection.
Parking InformationUnless special parking arrangements have been stated above, off-campus guests for this event may use the pay-as-you-go option in the Parking Ramp (corner of 2nd Ave N and Columbia Road), the Visitor Lot (off Centennial Drive), or a Parking Meter. Parking in any other parking lot on-campus requires a parking pass which can be purchased directly through UND Parking Services, Twamley Hall Rm 204 (M, W-F 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM and Tu 9:00 AM – 4:30 PM).
