Graham Tobin, a nationally recognized environmental geographer and professor in the Department of Geography, Environment and Planning, and Vice Provost for Strategic and Budget Planning at the University of South Florida, will visit UND March 21-23. He will present at the Forum for Contemporary Geographic Issues on Thursday March 21, at 11 a.m. in 100 Leonard Hall. His presentation is titled “Chronic Hazards: The Cascading Impacts of Volcano Disasters in Ecuador.”
During his visit, Tobin will give two other lectures:
“Hazard Mitigation: Getting Out of Harm’s Way” – Thursday, March 21, 3:30 to 4:15 p.m., 113 Education Building
“Sustainable Mitigation: Finding a Comfort Level with Risk” – Friday, March 22, noon to 12:50 p.m., 157 O’Kelly-Ireland Hall.
In addition to giving lectures, Tobin will meet with faculty and students. On Saturday, March 23, Tobin will be on a flooding and landscape study tour to Devils Lake area with Paul Todhunter and Greg Vandeberg (both UND Geography).
All the presentations are open to the public.
Parking InformationUnless special parking arrangements have been stated above, off-campus guests for this event may use the pay-as-you-go option in the Parking Ramp (corner of 2nd Ave N and Columbia Road), the Visitor Lot (off Centennial Drive), or a Parking Meter. Parking in any other parking lot on-campus requires a parking pass which can be purchased directly through UND Parking Services, Twamley Hall Rm 204 (M, W-F 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM and Tu 9:00 AM – 4:30 PM).
