The Grand Forks Community Chorale presents Franz Joseph Haydn's Creation on April 26, 2014 at 8:00 pm, under the baton of Artistic Director Dr. Joshua Bronfman. This choral masterwork will combine the talents of Grand Forks newest choir, the Grand Forks Community Chorale, with UND's Concert Choir, Varsity Bards, and Allegro Women's Choir, as well as players from the Greater Grand Forks Symphony Orchestra. The performance is sponsored by the Grand Forks Master Chorale and the UND Department of Music.
Haydn's Creation is an oratorio that tells the biblical story of creation, as written in the book of Genesis and Milton's Paradise Lost. It is the first work that was set in both in both German and English. Since it's sold out premiere in 1798, the Creation has been one of the most performed masterworks of all time. The prelude, The Representation of Chaos is one of the most famous overtures in all of classical music. Scored for soprano, tenor and bass soloists, plus chorus and orchestra, Haydn's Creation is a thrilling music event that you won't want to miss.
This performance marks the first for the newly formed Grand Forks Community Chorale. The GFCC one of two choirs is in the Grand Forks Master Chorale Organization. To become a singer with the Grand Forks Community Chorale, go to GF Master Chorale and register to sing.
