Jihye Chang Piano Recital

UND Music presents a guest pianist Jihye Chang. This event is free and open to the public.
Pianist Jihye Chang is an international soloist, chamber musician, and teacher. She has appeared at Orleans Festival in France, Virtuosi X Festival and Festival Inverno de Garanhuns in Brazil, New Music Festivals at the University of Louisville, Ball State University, and Florida State University, and has shared the stage with renowned musicians such as Frank Cohen, Anton Kuerti, William Preucil, and Richard Young. She is a recipient of the Henry Kohn Award from the Tanglewood Music Center, an Honorary Fellowship from the Montgomery Symphony Orchestra, Copland Recording Grant, and first prize of the Mikhashoff International Pianist-Composer Competition.
Her recordings can be found on labels including Sony Korea, Centaur, Parma (Ravaello), and Albany. Engagements in 2017-2018 season include a world premiere of Robert Aldridge’s Piano Concerto No. 2 at the Brevard Music Center; performances for the Fort Worth Chamber Music Series, Seoul National University’s Tuesday Concert Series, Brevard Mondays Series, The Arts Partnership of Fargo, Concerts in Cummer series, and Clarinettisimo festival of Seattle; guest chamber music concerts at Arizona State University, Michigan State University, New Mexico State University, and University of Michigan; and collaboration with young composers from Australia, Korea, and U.S.A. on the “Continuum 88” project, her 5-year exploration of the solo piano literature, with concerts in Seoul and Daejeon (Korea), Fort Worth, Nashville, Taipei and Kaohsiung (Taiwan).
Ms. Chang graduated from Seoul National University, where she received the President’s Award, and earned her Master’s and Doctorate degrees from the Indiana University Jacobs School of Music. Most recently she served as Visiting Assistant Professor at Florida State University. Currently she is faculty member at the Brevard Music Center, lecturer at Florida State University and core member of the Intersection Contemporary Ensemble.
