The UND Department of Music is proud to announce that UND Opera will present The American Songbook of Irving Berlin, a Backstage Project at the historic Empire Arts Center in downtown Grand Forks on Friday, October 20th, 2017 at 8p.
Audiences will be serenaded by the melodies of Irving Berlin, one of the ‘founding fathers’ of American popular music.
“Last year’s show, MGM Melodies, sold-out. Everyone had such a great time,” says Dr. Anne Christopherson, Associate Professor of Voice and director of UND Opera activities, “Not only did the students learn more about the music of their country they also provided a unique and enjoyable experience to a community that has done so much to support UND Music.”
Royce Blackburn and Anne Christopherson will be joined by UND music majors David Fehr, Bethany Loock, Maria Draper, Haley Olson, Cassandra Richtsmeier, Hannah Rue, Rachel Schiller, Bailey Strahota, Michael Thompson with Matthew Sebald at the piano. Dr. Dean Jilek, Director of Choral Activities, will make a special appearance as well.
The unique space backstage at the Empire limits seating to 50-55 people.
