Volunteering for Community Panel

How can we grow the spirit and effectiveness of volunteerism in our communities?

Connie Olson ( is a native Texan who moved to North Dakota in January 2008. She began her Jaycee Career in 2002 and serves as state president and has a passion for community service and helping people. Connie lives in Mandan, ND with her husband Leif and daughter Kati Mae.

Nancy Feldman ( has been a community member of Pembina, N.D. for 23 years. She has served on the Pembina Recreation Board since 1999 and currently serves as the Vice President. Nancy also enjoys volunteering with the Pembina American Legion Auxiliary as well as the Pembina County Relay for Life team.

Leighann McKenzie ( moved to Grand Forks from Castalian Springs, Tenn. and graduated from the University of Tennessee at Martin with a Bachelors of Fine Arts, with an emphasis in Graphic Design. As an AmeriCorps*VISTA member, she works with RSVP+ Northeast North Dakota. RSVP+ North Dakota invites individuals of all ages to enhance personal growth, develop leadership skills, and meet critical community needs through meaningful volunteer service opportunities.

Annie Le ( is from Apple Valley, MN and senior at UND with a major in Rehabilitation and Human Services major, a concentration in Substance Abuse, and minors in Psychology and Sociology. Annie says about herself, "I have an interest in helping people and creative problem solving. On my free time I like to spend as much time with my friends and family as possible because I learn most from them and from the relationships i have with them. I feel most accomplished when the people around me, including myself, are happy because that is what really matters to me. I want to leave UND with a Ph. D in counseling."
