Regional Roundtable on Campus-Community Engagement
The Regional Roundtable on Campus-Community Engagement was organized by a group of faculty and staff representatives from several area campuses. The event will provide an opportunity to share current projects and develop new collaborations related to service-learning and community-based research.
The highlight of the event is luncheon speaker Julie Plaut, executive director of the Minnesota Campus Compact. Campus Compact is a national coalition of 35 state affiliates and more than 1,100 college and university presidents committed to the civic purposes of higher education. The Minnesota Campus Compact has 40 member campuses from across the state. In addition to providing resources for developing service learning courses, Plaut will speak about Campus Compact and the benefits of campuses collaborating.
Other events featured at the roundtable include panel discussions on models of service-learning at campuses across the region (moderated by Paul LeBel, UND Vice President of Academic Affairs and Provost), and faculty strategies for incorporating service-learning (moderated by Anne Kelsch, Director of UND Office of Instructional Development). There will also be breakout sessions on Campus Compact and community-based research, as well as service-learning exhibits from participating campuses. The event will end with a closing reception sponsored by the College of Arts and Sciences.
