Welcome Video & Info for International Students

Office of International Programs and International Centre

Director's Welcome

Greetings from the UND Office of International Programs (OIP)!

The world today is ever changing and more mobile than ever before in our history.  We live in a global society that demands that we understand one another if we are to succeed.  Our mission here at the OIP is "to create a welcoming atmosphere that will encourage global understanding through education abroad, cultural programming, and support of international students and scholars."

As the OIP staff carries out this mission we see our work as building bridges between cultures and countries This "bridge building" takes place through our services to international students and faculty studying and teaching at UND, through international exchange programs, and through intercultural programming.  The OIP, located in the International Centre (2908 University Avenue), provides advising for UND's international population and students interested in study abroad, as well as scheduling a number of cultural programs throughout the year. The links below should lead you to the information you need, if they do not, please feel free to email us at:

International Population Services

From dealing with immigration and academic issues, picking up international students at the airport, assisting them with insurance and banking needs, to providing acculturation advice, OIP tries to assist international students, faculty, and staff as they transition into their new environment.

Study Abroad Resources & Advising

Study abroad resources are available on the first floor of the International Centre. It has a variety of resources that will assist in choosing and preparing for a study abroad experience. The Education Abroad staff also advise students on the possibilities for studying abroad.

Speaker's Bureau

The Speakers Bureau is a service provided by international student volunteers. Students are available upon request to speak to UND classes, area schools and community groups about their culture. Many classes and groups in the past have found this service invaluable as the students speak from their unique perspective of growing up in a different country. Please contact the International Student Advisors for more information about the Speaker's Bureau.

Meetings and Classes

The International Centre is a great place to conduct meetings and classes. The Sharon Rezac Anderson Cultural Room is equipped with a LCD projector, TV, VCR/DVD, and a sound system. The SRA Cultural Room can accommodate any size group up to 150 (that would be very cozy). Please click here to download the International Center Use Agreement Form.  The Center can be reserved by calling 777-6438, or by visiting room 205 of the Office of International Programs.

Computer Lab

The First Floor of the International Centre features a small computer lab. The computers are equipped with word-processing programs and all of them have Internet access. The computers are available for use by UND students, faculty and staff. They are especially good for searching out study abroad opportunities.
