Responsible for the general maintenance and repair of all academic buildings and classrooms. This includes such items as the hanging of bulletin boards, white boards, pictures, projection screens, window blinds, shelves, chair rails, coat hooks, ceiling tiles. They also repair doors, replace windows, fix locks, disassemble/reassemble modular furniture, and repair furniture.
Responsible for the installation, maintenance, repair and testing of a campus wide building automation control and monitoring system. This system enables Facilities Management to centrally monitor and control building environmental systems as well as other systems such as fire alarm and security.
Responsible for small renovation/remodel projects such as wall construction, addition or removal of doors or windows, installation of counter tops, cabinets & ceiling tile, masonry and concrete work. They are responsible for the inspection, installation and repair of the roof and gutters of all buildings on campus. They are also responsible for the testing and removal of any asbestos on campus.
Responsible for the oversight and coordination of Facilities Managements projects. This position is the customer's point of contact for all renovation/remodeling projects and works with the department on scheduling, changes of scope of the work, and coordination of in-house and outside construction contractors.
Responsible for the design and estimating of alteration/remodel projects. Examples would be requests to construct an office, remodel a conference room, renovate a bathroom, add a door, install a window, or construct a display case.
Responsible for the installation, maintenance, repair and testing of all UND building electrical systems to include electrical circuits, lighting (interior and exterior), motors, receptacles and switches. In addition they are responsible for the campus wide electrical distribution infrastructure and equipment as well as all standby emergency generators. They perform related code compliance inspections and carry a master electrical license.
Responsible for the installation, maintenance, repair, and testing of all building fire alarm systems, fire detection systems, electronic door access and security systems on campus. They also install and repair classroom/conference room audio/visual equipment.
Responsible for the condition assessment and installation and repair of all floor coverings on the campus.
Food Service Maintenance
Responsible for the installation, maintenance and repair of all kitchen & laundry equipment on campus. This includes such items as coolers, dishwashers, deep fryers, washers, and dryers.
Responsible for campus moves, deliveries, event set ups, snow removal, refuse, street and parking lot maintenance to include sweeping, striping and minor repairs, and outdoor signage.
Responsible for the general maintenance and repair of all residence halls and housing buildings on campus. This includes such items as doors, locks, windows, plumbing fixtures, heating, flooring and appliances.
Responsible for lawn and tree care on campus to include mowing, trimming, and application of fertilizers and herbicides. They are also responsible for the marking/striping of the athletic fields, tree/shrub planting, trimming and removal. They maintain the campus sprinkler systems. They also do the design and construction of various landscaping projects as well as the design, planting and maintenance of the campus flower gardens.
Lock & Sign Shop
Responsible for maintaining a database of all keys assigned to the campus, the rekeying of locks/cores, issuing out new keys, and installation/repair of door hardware. It is also responsible for the building signage on campus such as desk name plates and room signs.
Responsible for the assessment and maintenance of all the exterior and interior painting needs of all buildings on campus.
Responsible for servicing plumbing fixtures, building sewer and drain lines, drinking fountains and heating and cooling lines of mechanical units in all of the buildings on campus, including housing. They are responsible for the domestic water, storm drainage and sanitary sewer systems across the UND campus. In addition they are responsible for the approximately 11 miles of steam line and associated manholes buried underground on campus as well as the steam systems within the UND buildings. They perform related code compliance inspections and carry a master plumbing license.
Responsible for maintaining the campus space inventory, paving program and assists with design and AIA Specification preparation.
Responsible for the installation, maintenance, repair and testing of all heating and cooling systems in all UND buildings on campus, including housing. They also service coolers and freezers in the cafeterias as well as equipment in labs such as fume hoods. They install and maintain ice machines in various residence halls. They perform related code compliance inspections.
