The mission of the Payroll Office is to support the teaching, learning, and advancement of knowledge and community service efforts of the University by providing accurate and timely compensation for work performed insuring all benefits are correctly deducted and reported to the appropriate agency, maintaining employee's earning and payroll records, and insuring we are at all times in compliance with all UND, State, and Federal rules and regulations. The Payroll Office is also dedicated to educate, and administer the fringe benefits of the employees, dependents and retirees of the University of North Dakota, as well as monitor benefit costs.
Win an iPad2: To have your name entered in a drawing for an iPad2, simply grant consent in Employee Self-Service before January 16, 2012 to access your W-2 in an electronic, "Paperless" format. When you grant consent, you will not receive a hard copy W-2 in the mail. Follow These Instructions:
1. Login to Employee Self-Service at: https://www.connectnd.us/psp/ndhp/?cmd=login
2. Go to: Main Menu>ND HE Self-Service>Payroll and Compensation>W-2/W-2C Consent
3. Check the box that states: "Check here to indicate your consent to receive electronic W-2 and W-2C forms"
4. Click Submit
5. Re-enter your password to verify your identity
6.Click Continue
7. A message will appear "Submit was Successful", hit OK
8. You're Done!
Retirement Contributions Increase: Effective with the january 13, 1012 paycheck, benefited employees and departments will each contribute an additional one percent of gross wages to their retirement plan. Employees with NDPERS Retirement will notice a pretax deduction of one percent of gross wages to NDPERS, matched by an additional one percent from their department. Employees with TIAA-CREF Retirement will notice an additional one percent of gross wages as a pretax contribution to their retirement plan, matched by an additional one percent by their department.
Viewing Leave Accrual and Leave Usage in Self-service: Employees can view the number of leave hours accrued and hours used each pay period by logging into self-service. Click on Benefits>Leave Balances and then click on the second tab - Leave Details at the top of the screen.
Employee FICA Payroll Tax Reduction Expires December 31, 2011: The one-year tax holiday created under the Tax Relief, Unemployment Insurance Reauthorization, and Job Creation Act of 2010 expires on December 31, 2011. If this holiday is not extended into 2012, beginning January 1, 2012, employee contributions for Social Security (FICA) will increase from 4.2% to 6.2% (the Social Security rate prior ro Calendar year 2011).
New tax Tables: As of January 1, new federal and state tax tables will be used to calculate your tax withholdings.
