What is Counseling?
Counseling is a service that can provide support when your normal ways of coping or managing problems no longer seems to be working. Counseling provides an outlet to talk over what is on your mind with an objective person who has professional training in helping people work through their problems. Counseling helps you to better manage current situations and learn new skills and ways of looking at situations so that you will be more capable of solving problems on your own.
Many university students utilize the counseling center in order to discuss concerns ranging from social to academic in nature. The University Counseling Center operates on a brief counseling model to maximize the availability of Center services for all students. Regardless of the counseling form, success in counseling requires your active participation during and between sessions.
