About the Healthy UND 2020 Priority Action Groups
Healthy UND 2020 is a UND campus-wide initiative charged by President Kelley with the prioritization and development of an action plan to address the leading health and wellness issues that affect the academic success and retention of UND students.
In the fall of 2010 the Healthy UND 2020 steering committee grew to nearly 60 members and split into five Priority Action Groups based on the previously identified top health and wellness issues that negatively impact UND student academic success and retention. The five Priority Action Groups include:
• Alcohol & Other Substance Use/Abuse
• Learning Healthy Social/Relationship Skills
• Managing Mental Health
• Nutrition/Diet
• Physical Activity/Exercise
These Priority Action Groups meet monthly to evaluate environmental factors, analyze the problems, share best practices, establish goals, create smart objectives, develop strategies, and ultimately create a campus-wide action plan.
President Kelley's statement nicely summarizes the purpose of the Healthy UND 2020 Priority Action Groups, “In creating a campus-wide approach to health and wellness issues, we can increase the likelihood that students achieve academic and personal success by pursuing a high quality of life and sense of well-being.”
