Have you ever wondered if your metabolism is fast or slow? Is a slow metabolism the reason you can't lose weight? Now, your question can be answered with a 10-minute breathing test that will determine the exact number of calories you burn at rest each day.
Schedule your appointment. This service is for staff/faculty & spouses/partners only. There is a $30 cost. You can pay this through a link in your email confirmation.
Services include a 10-minute breath test, 10 minute explanation of results, then a follow-up visit in 3 months, all provided by a registered, licensed dietitian.
The breathing test is an apparatus that is put over the mouth and nose and for 10 minutes while you sit.
Using a MetaCheck indirect calorimeter, the air you breathe out is analyzed to determine how much oxygen your body consumes which scientifically reveals your resting metabolic rate. After completing the test, you are given your Target Caloric Zone to ensure weight loss, maintenance or gain, depending on your needs. You will also be given personal strategies on how to maximize your metabolism from a registered, licensed dietitian.
The cost is reduced to $30 per participant and the remaining cost is subsidized by the Work Well program. You will need to pre-pay prior to your date of service by either PayPal or sending a check payable to:

Day of Test
On the day of the metabolism test, participants should NOT exercise, have caffeine, or eat within 4 hours before the test.
The testing will be provided at the UND Wellness Center - Room 111, 801 Princeton Street for UND staff, faculty and spouses. There is A/G/H parking in front of the building.

About the Provider
Barbara Arntson, MS, RD, LD at Healthy Weighs Nutrition, is a Registered Dietitian, Exercise Physiologist, & Personal Trainer. Barbara went to Concordia College in Moorhead, MN and received a double Bachelors of Arts in Food, Nutrition, & Dietetics and Exercise Science. She later went on to Iowa State University in Ames, IA to get her Master's Degree in Exercise Physiology. She also completed her dietetic internship while at Iowa State.
She has worked for the United States Public Health Service in Alaska under the Surgeon General as a dietitian for the Diabetes Program. She is certified in Adult Weight Management by the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics and certified in Motivational Interviewing.
