North Dakota SPIRIT at the UND Honors Program
The award-winning UND Honors Program embodies President Robert Kelley's vision for an Exceptional UND through its unparalleled commitment to
cultivate skilled leaders, capable professionals, and engaged citizens. This investment in top students generates positive impacts locally and globally.
Our future leaders must be able to seek out and analyze information; they must be able to think creatively to solve emerging problems; and they must be willing to act for positive change. Established in 1961, the UND Honors Program addresses each of these needs daily by providing motivated, accomplished
students with inspired teaching and learning opportunities that truly go above and beyond.
The Honors Program Mission is based on the premise that learning occurs most
fully and deeply when students are immersed in an environment in which they continually engage in the pursuit of knowledge together with peers, mentors, faculty, and staff. We encourage such learning through
• innovative interdisciplinary courses,
• integrated co-curricular activities,
• meaningful service learning,
• stimulating undergraduate research,
• and intensive advisement.
Through this approach to undergraduate education, the Honors Program fosters
excellence among a cohort of high-ability, high-achieving students whose presence at UND benefits every aspect of university life. The Honors experience embodies the best that UND has to offer its students. And Honors
students embody the best that UND has to offer the world. Our students' impact is evident.
