UND Honors Program is looking for future scholars.
Does the Honors Program at UND cost more?
You do not pay any additional fees for Honors courses or membership in the Honors Program. In fact, the Honors Program is able to offer a limited number of partial tuition waivers to selected students. Apply by February 15th for full consideration.
Are Honors courses harder than others?
No! Honors classes generally involve more reading, writing, and discussion, and for most Honors students, this kind of work is usually generally interesting and pleasurable. Students aren't penalized for being in Honors; we don't grade on a curve or in any other way that might slant a course so that participating in an Honors course might jeopardize your grade point average. Often, the Honors class environment stimulates students to do well and to develop skill such as writing and research in ways that benefit their performance in other classes, as well as their Honors classes. Honors students also often help each other informally with study groups and mentoring.
What are Honors students like at UND?
Honors students have personalities and interests as diverse as the rest of the study body. Some major in professional fields such as engineering, aviation, computer science, business, and nursing, while others are in liberal arts. Generally, as the common denominator, members of the Honors program tend to be genuinely and deeply interested in ideas. They like to read, talk with enthusiasm on many different subjects, and like to write. Student still can participate in on-campus activities, such as band, student government, religious organizations, and even athletics.
