OCT 26th, 2011 Honors will host James Orbinski for a Great Conversations event
In celebration of its 50th Anniversary, the Honors Program will host James Orbinski for a Great Conversations event Oct. 26 in the Chester Fritz Auditorium. Orbinski is best known as a former international president of of Mèdecins Sans Frontières (Doctors Without Borders). He accepted the Nobel Peace Prize in 1999 on behalf of the organization, and he has built up a remarkable record in the areas of health research and humanitarianism in the years since. Triage: James Orbinski’s "Humanitarian Dilemma," a recent documentary, was shown at the Sundance Film Festival. Orbinski’s book "An Imperfect Offering: Humanitarianism in the 21st Century," is both a popular and critical success. His work encompasses issues of international relations, politics, healthcare, research, human rights, poverty, war, leadership, and civic responsibility.
