Pre-optometry is not a major, but a recommended curriculum plan to prepare you for optometry school. Complete your optometry school prerequisites while simultaneously pursuing any major you choose. Some required courses for acceptance to optometry school are:
- English Composition
- Survey of Organic Chemistry
Extracurricular activities and internships are all part of earning a well-rounded, liberal arts education at UND. Pre-optometry students are encouraged to obtain hundreds of hours of experiential learning in the fields of their choice, and learn valuable industry information from professionals in the field.
UND has a Pre-Optometry Club where students are able to learn more about the profession and further explore optometry and their future role in it.
Doctors of Optometry are in high demand, and with a high average salary, it's a lucrative and satisfying career. The industry is projected to grow even more in the future.
