Want to try your hand at acting, dancing, directing or stage makeup? UND’s Theatre Arts Department welcomes all students who have an interest and passion in theater. Choose between a B.A. and a B.F.A. degree to navigate your way through the program. This accredited organization delivers nationally-recognized productions each year, and invites you to be involved every step of the way. A degree from UND’s Theatre Arts program can kick-start your journey to Broadway, Hollywood or beyond by enhancing your unique technical and artistic abilities and putting you in the spotlight.
By focusing on certain areas of your artistic career, you can enhance your skills and knowledge base to make yourself more appealing to employers, directors, choreographers and other professionals. In this program, you can earn a BFA in Musical Theatre or a BA in one of three concentrations:
- General Theatre
Students have the opportunity to engage in all aspects of productions including acting, stage managing, set design, costuming, light design, choreography, box-office management, directing and producing. The Theatre Arts undergraduate program is accredited by the National Association of Schools of Theatre.
The major will introduce you to all aspects of theatrical productions, including acting, costuming, choreography, writing, directing, stage managing and more. Likewise, you will learn a number of very useful skills that go beyond theatrical production, which include speaking in public, being organized and timely, collaborating with others, working within a chain of command, staying within a budget and more.
