The University of North Dakota Nonprofit Leadership Student Association (NLSA) will be hosting the "Retro Rooftop Rendezvous" beginning at 6:30 p.m., Sunday, Oct. 2 at Rhombus Guys Pizza in Grand Forks.
It's the first ever NLSA "Movie Night on the Roof at Rhombus Guys Pizza." Rhombus Guys Pizza is located at 312 Kittson Avenue in Downtown Grand Forks.
Admission is $2 or a donation of a food item that will benefit the "Back Pack Food Program" or St. Joseph's Food Pantry. Participants can bring blankets to cuddle and cower under the stars for an Alfred Hitchcock double feature: "The Lady Vanishes" and "Rich and Strange." The first movie is slated to begin at 7 p.m., and the second will start at 9 p.m.
In addition to the movies, a DVD sale will take place, with hundreds of eclectic movies from all genres, as well as a silent auction with collections of movies, such as James Bond, Star Wars and other movie classics. The sale and auction will kick off about 6:30 p.m., and end after the completion of the second movie. There will be theater snacks available for guests to buy as well as Rhombus Guys food and beverages.
Proceeds from this event will benefit NLSA in its efforts to provide social, cultural and leadership opportunities for members, preparing them to be leaders in the nonprofit sector. Earnings will also help students attend the Alliance Management Leadership Institute (AMI), an annual national convention where students network with professionals in the nonprofit field and work on case study, problem solving on-site in a local nonprofit organization.
NLSA, which is affiliated with the UND College of Arts and Sciences Nonprofit Leadership Program, provides social and cultural opportunities for its members, as well as prepares students for careers in nonprofit leadership. The UND Nonprofit Leadership Program offers both an 18-credit certificate program and a 21-credit minor. This program is accredited by the Nonprofit Leadership Alliance (formally American Humanics), a national organization that establishes competencies and affiliates with nonprofit leadership programs at colleges and universities.
