Women and Gender Studies kicks-off 30th Anniversary celebration today
The University of North Dakota Women and Gender Studies program, formerly Women Studies, is celebrating its 30th anniversary in 2012-13.
Today the program will kick off a fundraising effort, "30 at 30," with a reading by one of the first people to graduate with a Women Studies minor, Sharon Rezac Andersen. The event will also be the launch of her new book, "The Burden of Knowing," an account and analysis of her involvement in peace work in Nicaragua during the revolution.
Please join the celebration: Today from noon to 1 p.m. at the UND International Centre, along University Avenue.
The title "30 at 30" reflects the program's philosophy that there is power in numbers and that whatever one is able to contribute will be valued and put to good use. A one-time contribution of $30 is important and so is a $3,000 contribution over three years -- however you choose to commemorate this significant and durable program, we appreciate it.
