Cadets from the University of North Dakota Army and Air Force Reserve Officers Training Corps honored veterans on Monday, Nov. 11, at a ceremony on campus.
The "warriors of the future" from the ROTC presented U.S. flags to "warriors of the past," veterans from World War II, Korea, Vietnam, the Gulf War and Operation Enduring Freedom.
The ceremony began at 11 a.m., on Veterans Day with a bugle call to symbolically mark the time and date of Armistice -- the end of World War I in 1918.
The public was invited to attend the ceremony at the flagpole outside the Gorecki Alumni Center.
UND ROTC has a history dating back to 1888 when the school's second president, Col. Homer B. Sprague, taught the first military course on campus.
This is the first year the ROTC has held a flag presentation ceremony to mark Veterans Day.
The plan is to make it an annual tradition.
