The Rainbow Reception is a celebration for the LGBTQ+ graduating students and recognition of individual achievements. This event acknowledges the achievements, leadership, and contributions LGBTQ+ students have provided to the UND community. Graduates are welcome to bring invite their friends, family, and people who have been influential while at UND. Allies, faculty, students, and staff are welcome to join in celebrating our graduates and recognized individuals for outstanding contributions to the LGBTQ+ community at UND.
Spring 2018 Rainbow Reception

Are you graduating at the end of the semester? Would you like to participate in the Rainbow Reception? As a graduate you will receive a UND rainbow lapel pin that you may wear at the University of North Dakota graduation ceremony and have as a token of our appreciation. Register by e-mailing UND.pridecenter@UND.edu with your name and degree earned to be recognized.
Pride Awards recognize individuals of the UND community that have demonstrated outstanding commitment to the LGBTQ+ community. Award recipients will be chosen by a selected committee. Winners are announced at the Spring Rainbow Reception. Click here for nomination form.
Outstanding LGBTQ+ Student of the Year
Establish in 2018, the Outstanding LGBTQ+ Student Leader of the Year Award recognizes an individual who made impactful contributions to the LGBTQ+ community at UND. Undergraduate and Graduate students are eligible to be nominated for this award. Recipients are selected based on one or more of the following:
- Participation in an LGBTQ+ related student organization
- Demonstrated leadership in a program, event, project, or other effort to increase awareness of the LGBTQ+ community and educate on inclusivity
- Mentoring, outreach, and role-modeling for the LGBTQ+ community
Outstanding Ally of the Year
Established in 2018, the Outstanding Ally of the Year recognizes one student and one faculty/staff member that has demonstrated a commitment to improving inclusivity and creating a welcoming environment for the UND LGBTQ+ community. The award recognizes individuals that have made contributions and improvements at UND in one or more areas of:
- Completing Ally Training
- Active involvement in LGBTQ+ events, programs, and activities
- Creating inclusive environments through support, interrupting bias incidents, and educating the campus community
