BIOCONTAINMENT FACILITIES AVAILABLE FOR LEASE
Commercial and academic biocontainment laboratories are currently available for lease for biological work requiring small animal Biological Safety Level 3 (ABSL3), and ABSL3-enhanced facilities. The biocontainment laboratories are located in the Research Enterprise and Commercialization (REAC1) facility (dedicated 2009) in Grand Forks, ND. The REAC1 Facility is adjacent to the campus of the University of North Dakota (UND) and operated by the University of North Dakota Research Foundation (UNDRF) which reports to the UND Vice President for Research and Economic Development.
The ABSL3 (commissioned 2010) contains 3 suites (between 208 and 320 ft2) that can accommodate up to three individual projects and an ABSL3-E suite (597 ft2, in 2 rooms) that can accommodate one project related to virology, microbiology and molecular biology small animal research or other projects that require BSL3 or BSL3-E biocontainment. Each biocontainment area has a pass-through autoclave, air interlocks, class II biological safety cabinets and the ABSL3-E suite has a shower and changing room facilities. In addition, BSL2 spaces within the REAC1 facility and vivarium facilities for quarantine of small animals are also available.
