The ribbon cutting took place in the newly constructed Ireland Hall lobby, which serves as student gathering space.
Following formal remarks, two brief student learning exercises were demonstrated by faculty teaching in SCALE-UP. Students taking the courses served as guides during the teaching demonstration.
The lobby also serves as a satellite gallery of the UND Art Collections"living art museum", which strives to utilize art for educational purposes across the campus. The particular artworks selected for display in the SCALE-UP room were produced for the 2012 Arts and Culture Conference, "Binary Inventions."
