1. At the fall meeting of the University
Council, President launches planning process designed
to elicit input from all stockholder groups. President
appoints a Planning Group to participate in the planning
process.
2. Campus forums and regional forums
are hosted by the Planning Group. Planning Group conducts
focus group discussions on values clarification and
identification of priorities.
3. Planning Group presents to Senates,
Council of Deans, a small set of proposed priorities.
Planning Group considers and identifies 4-6 priorities
which are then submitted to the President. President
charges campus units to develop responsive unit plans
addressing these priorities.
4. Departments, colleges, and other
units develop strategic unit plans. The Planning Group
establishes several task groups, one group per priority,
to recommend goals and action strategies at the University
level.
5. Planning Group takes input from
the task groups, and from the unit plans, and drafts
the Strategic Plan.
6. Draft out for review and reaction.
7. Planning Group and President
finalize plan for adoption and present plan to University
Senate and other groups for endorsement.
8. Final plan printed and distributed.
Presentations of plan made to civic and other groups.
