Orientation Reservations
Online reservations opened at 9 a.m. CDT on Tuesday, April 16, 2013.
Make your online reservation to attend Orientation. Reservations are accepted on a first come, first served basis for all admitted first-year students entering UND in Fall 2013.
In preparation of making your online reservation, please review the following:
Step 1 – Mark your calendar
Review the schedule to determine the dates you will attend Orientation based your academic major.
Two sets of dates are available for each major, including undeclared majors. It is highly recommended that you mark your calendar for both sets of dates in the event that your first choice is full.
Please do not finalize any vacation or travel plans until your Orientation reservation has been confirmed via email.
Step 2 – Decide if you will take the Language Placement & Credit Exam
If you have had language instruction in high school, or who have acquired language skills in some other manner, you are encouraged to take the Language Placement & Credit Exam. Exams are offered in:
- French
- German
- Latin
- Russian
- Spanish
Your score on the Language Placement & Credit Exam determines how many credits you may apply toward your degree and which language course you should take next if you desire to further your foreign language skills.
The exam costs $20 per language and is billed to your student account. If you score high enough to earn UND institutional credits, you will be billed an additional $5 per credit earned.
The Language Placement & Credit Exam is offered during Orientation on the morning of Day 1. When you make your reservation for Orientation, please indicate if you will take the exam and in which language you will test. On Day 1, please report to the Memorial Union, second floor, at 9:00 a.m. Please arrive on time, as we are unable to accommodate late testers.
After you have received confirmation of your Orientation date, please make necessary arrangements in preparation for your campus visit.
Step 3 - Overnight accommodations
UND Residence Hall
As you visit UND, we invite you and your family to spend the night on campus and experience what it is like to stay in a residence hall.
Overnight guest housing is available in Swanson Hall during Orientation.
For your convenience, private rooms are available with a private bathroom, twin beds made hotel style, and towels changed daily. Rollaway beds are not available.
- Single rooms = $36 per night
- Double rooms = $38 per night
Find more information and make a room reservation at UND Guest Housing.
NOTE: Reserving a room does not reserve your time to attend Orientation. You must make a separate reservation for Orientation.
Hotel Accommodations
Find area hotel options at the Grand Forks Visitor & Convention Bureau.
Step 4 - Disability accommodations
If disability accommodations are needed when attending Orientation, please contact the Student Success Center at 701.777.2117 at least 1 week prior to your session date.
