What to Bring? What to Wear?
Make sure to bring:
- A letter sized portfolio with a notepad and pen.
- More than enough copies of your resume.
- Your research notes on participants at the fair.
- A compact, professional portfolio of your work samples (if applicable).
Dress for Success:
Use your appearance as a professional tool to impress the employers at the fair.
Attire for Men:
Men's Business Attire:
- Two piece matching suit
- Conservative tie – nothing flashy
- Socks should be high enough to cover the leg when seated and be a dark color to match your suit
- Wear a plain white t-shirt under a light-colored dress shirt
Men's Business Casual:
- Button down shirts and dark or khaki colored dress pants
- Solid colored sweaters are appropriate
- Avoid loud prints
- Sport coats and blazers can be worn
- Belt and dress shoes should match and be professional looking
- Socks should be dark in color and high enough to cover the leg when seated
- No tennis shoes, flip flops, cargo pants, sweatshirts, jeans, t-shirts, shorts, etc.
- Minimal jewelry
- No piercings or cologne
Attire for Women:
Women's Business Attire:
- 2-piece pant or skirted suit in navy, dark gray or black
- Skirts should be at least knee length
- Conservative hosiery should be worn with skirts – no snags, runs, holes
- Clean, conservative shoes – no stiletto's
- Conservative jewelry and makeup
- No perfume/body sprays
- Nails neat in appearance – hip shades will distract
- No cleavage or piercings
- Avoid big clunky purses – consider a nice portfolio or briefcase instead
Women's Business Casual:
- Dress pants/skirts with nice dress shirt or sweater set
- Skirts should be knee-length
- Blazers can be worn
- Conservative hosiery should be worn with skirts – no snags, runs, holes
- Clean, conservative shoes – no stiletto's
- No cleavage or piercings
- No tank tops, belly shirts, jeans, flip flops, sweatshirts, t-shirts, shorts, etc.
- Avoid big clunky purses – consider a nice portfolio or briefcase instead
