University Place Move In
WHEN CAN I MOVE IN?
University Place opens at 9:00 am on Friday, August 17, 2012. When you arrive on campus, go directly to University Place main lobby for check-in. Please bring a photo ID and you will receive your room key/fob at the time you check-in.
WHAT IF I WANT TO COME EARLY?
If you need to arrive prior to August 17, early arrival housing is available. We want to prepare for your arrival, so please notify us of your plans. Early arrival is NOT guaranteed. You may sign-up online beginning August 1, through Campus Connection. If you have additional questions concerning early arrival housing, please call (701) 777-4251, Monday - Friday 8:00 am - 4:30 pm.
WHERE CAN I PARK ON CAMPUS?
Parking and driving on campus during move-in weekend is challenging. We appreciate you keeping vehicles off the grass at all times.
HOW DO I PAY FOR MY ROOM?
Fall semester room and board payments are due with tuition and fees on the first day of class. Paying online via campus connection using E-check is the fastest and most reliable method of payment at UND. You may also pay by credit card. HOW DOES THE MAIL WORK?
There is daily mail pick-up and delivery at University Place (except Sundays and holidays). You and your apartment roommates will share a mailbox and the box opens with a key. In order to receive mail, you need to have it addressed as follows:

DINING DOLLARS ARE INCLUDED IN THE CONTRACT - CAN YOU EXPLAIN?
Two hundred dollars ($200) will be added to your Dining Dollar account, accessed via your U Card, at the beginning of each semester (Fall Semester and Spring Semester for the Academic Year/9 Month Contract holders and Fall Semester, Spring Semester, and Summer Session for the Full Term Contract holders). The Dining Dollar portion of the 2012-2013 Contract period begins on August 18, 2012, and ends on Friday, May 10, 2013 for the Academic Year/9 Month Contract. The Full Term Contract – New Assignment begins on May 29, 2012 and ends on Friday, May 10, 2013. The Full Term – Continuing Assignment begins on Monday, May 14, 2012 and ends on Friday, May 10, 2013.
Dining Dollars can be redeemed at the following locations: Squires, Terrace, and Wilkerson Dining Centers; Walsh, and Wilkerson Convenience Stores; Stomping Grounds (Locations at University Place and Memorial Union); Old Main Marketplace Food Court; U-Snack Convenience Store in the Memorial Union;Wings Café at the UND Aerospace building at the Airport; Medical Science Food Cart; and Twamley Snack Bar. A ten percent (10%) discount shall be applied to the purchase of meals with Dining Dollars at the dining centers only. Any unused balance of Dining Dollars on the last day of the contract period (9 Month or Full Term) will be forfeited. See University Place Contract for more details.
MAY I ALSO PURCHASE A MEAL PLAN?
Students living in University Place may purchase any meal plan that Dining Services offers (must be a returning student to purchase the block meal plans), including the 3 and the 6 meals per week plans. See complete details and rates at www.dining.und.edu/mealplans.

Service Centers - Centrally located help desk (Wilkerson is the closest to University Place) where residents have access to a variety of services
WILL THERE BE ANYBODY TO ANSWER MY QUESTIONS?
Your building staff will be ready to welcome you upon your arrival and is available to help you transition to a more independent lifestyle in apartment-style housing. University Place has four Community Assistants (CAs). The CA is a student just like you, who is responsible for establishing a good community atmosphere in your area. The CA will be available to answer questions, facilitate programs, and confront inappropriate behavior when required. Other members of your hall staff include the Residence Life Coordinators (RLC). The RLC has the overall responsibility for supervising the CA's, advising University Place Advisory Board, and serving as a resource for you.
The Housing Office will also be opened extended hours opening weekend, so please stop by 525 Stanford Road if you need assistance.
ROOM PERSONALIZATION
Room personalization is strongly encouraged. Bedrooms are furnished with a bed that may be elevated and/or lofted, 3-drawer dresser, split desk that may be separated into a small desk and side table if desired, desk chair, window coverings. The shared living room includes a sofa, 2 end tables, leather recliner with ottoman, two counter stools and kitchen appliances (microwave, dishwasher, stove and refrigerator). In addition, and each room has cable tv and Internet access (hardwired and wireless). University owned furniture may not be removed from student rooms. Pictures and posters may be hung on the walls of your room. We recommend very small nails, t-pins and thumbtacks be used to hang items. Using these will eliminate the problem of unsightly wall damage. Please refrain from using stick-ons and other adhesive products as this can damage the walls. The UND campus is tobacco free.

IS TELEPHONE SERVICE PROVIDED IN THE ROOMS?
No. Rooms do not include phone service. You may purchase local and long distance service from UND Telecommunications. Please call at 701-777-3217 or see UND Telecommunications. If you choose to purchase this service, you will need to bring a phone.
CAN I SET UP MY COMPUTER BEFORE I GET TO CAMPUS?
Yes. To set up your workstation before coming to campus, find step-by-step instructions on the ResNet web site ResNet provides free computer support during the academic year for students living in University Housing. See the above web site for hours and services offered. All student rooms have wired and wireless access to the campus network (Internet).
WHAT DOES MY ROOM LOOK LIKE?
No two rooms are identical in exact dimensions, even in the same building. However, we know it's important for you to see your living space. So, check out the virtual tours and photos.
ARE WASHERS & DRYERS AVAILABLE?
Yes, laundry facilities are available in University Place on the first floor of the East Building. The cost is $1 to wash and $.25 to dry. Washers and dryers are coin operated and all machines accept the U Card debit account called U CA$H. This means you don't need to hunt for quarters to do laundry.
