Recontracting Options
Current Residence Hall Students
- Stay in your current residence hall double room. You have first choice to return to your current double room (with the exception of designated spaces and residents will be notified).
- Students in designed single rooms are not guaranteed to be able to return to their same room.
- Students currently living in a designed triple room can only return to their current room if they recontract with two other residents (total of three returning residents).
- Move to another room in the residence halls.
- Move to an upperclass hall – Swanson Hall or Hancock Hall.
- Move to University Place – apartment-style housing. Two or four bedroom units for four students with full kitchen, furnished bedrooms and living room. Must have 30 post-high school credits. Residents of University Place do not need to have a meal plan. Rent includes $200 dining dollars each semester.
Current University Place Students
- Stay in your current room/unit. You have first choice to return to your current space.
- Move to a new space in University Place. Current residents have first choice to move to a new, open unit. You may keep the same roommates or request new ones.
- You may move back to the residence halls.
- Check out UND Hamline Square Apartments. Leaseholders must by 21 years of age by December 31, the year of move-in, roommates can be younger. The UND Apartment application process is not part of recontracting, see apartment application.
Students who MAY not be able to return to their current spaces, you will receive an email from the Housing Office:

Residents in Designed Single Rooms - If you are currently in this type of room, you may not be able to return to your room during recontracting. Watch for an email from the Housing Office regarding your specific situation.

Living and Learning Community Residents
Engineering students - You may return to your community and you will be asked to sign a participation agreement.
Aviation students - You may NOT return to your community. It is for first-year students only.

Residents in Hamline Apartment Residence Hall Overflow
You cannot return to overflow housing in Hamline. You may recontract to the residence halls or complete an application for the UND apartments if you are eligible.

Residents on ground floor of Brannon, McVey, and West Halls
You cannot return to your current room, as Housing is anticipating the need to change the occupancy gender of these rooms for next fall.

Residents in ADA rooms
If you are in an ADA room and do not require this accommodation, you will be unable to return to your room.
Do you need a residence hall that is available over semester break?
Consider signing up for Brannon Hall. You are guaranteed to be able to stay in your room between fall and spring semesters. There is a nightly cost for this option ($26.35 was the 2012-13 nightly charge). You are not required to stay over the break, but it is a option.
Are you into wellness?
Consider the Wellness Living and Learning Community. Located in Brannon Hall, the Wellness community focuses on living a balanced lifestyle within the college environment. As a member of the Wellness "wing" you will have the opportunity to develop healthy practices, and incorporate the seven aspects of wellness: emotional, intellectual, physical, occupational/vocational, environmental, social and spiritual.
