Recontracting
Recontracting for 2013-14 is now over. If you are still interested in living on campus next year, please contact the Housing Office at 701-777-4251.
We want you BACK! There are many reasons to continue to live on campus.
- On-campus residents get better grades.
- You are close to all the activities, events and resources to make you a successful student.
- No need to cook or grocery shop when you get well-balanced, healthy meals in the dining centers.
- Stay connected with friends.
- Who wants to dig a car out of the snow and find a parking spot, when you could be sleeping in and still make it to class on-time!
- A support system of residence hall & University Place staff wants you to be academically successful.
Recontracting is the process where current residents in the residence halls or University Place are allowed to choose a room and/or roommates for next year. Students pay the first installment, sign their contract, and select a room ALL online in Campus Connection.
The Process
There are 6 Stages in the Recontacting Timeline.
Recontracting begins with Stage 1 Feb. 15-22, 2013 (closes at 8:00am on Feb. 22), when residents who want to return to campus housing are asked to E-sign (electronically sign) the 2013-14 Residence Hall Room and Board Contract or the 2013-14 University Place Housing Contract and pay the $250 first installment.
The next stage (see timeline) depends on the type of room students are interested in selecting. Current residents get the first chance to return to their existing double room in the residence halls or unit in University Place; and students currently living in University Place have priority to move around in that building before new students can enter.
**IMPORTANT MESSAGE TO STUDENTS IN SINGLE OR TRIPLE ROOMS**
-
Students who are in a designed single room in the residence halls are NOT guaranteed to return to that type of room.
-
Students currently living in a designed triple room can only return to their current room if they recontract with two other residents (total of three returning residents).
Open Room Lottery
If residents don't want to return to the same room, all remaining open spaces in the residence halls and University Place are offered in a lottery system beginning March 20. All students who E-signed a contract, paid the first installment, but did not select their current room will be automatically entered into this lottery. The lottery time assigned to a student depends date of their first application as a freshman. The longer the time a resident has been in housing, the better their lottery time.
Each student in the lottery has their own 2 minute "time frame" for room selection when no one else will be able to pick a room. After their two minutes have past, another student will enter the lottery. Students will not be removed from the lottery until they select a room.
