Gaming Consoles
Wii
Wii gaming consoles will not work on the ResHalls wireless. If you would like to use a Wii console in the residence halls, please connect it with an Ethernet cable using a USB to Ethernet Wii adapter.
To access features that require Internet connectivity on the Wii, setup a connection in the system settings and then sign into SafeConnect using the Internet Channel. If the Internet Channel is not installed or SafeConnect does not load, please bring the Wii to the ResNet office in Wilkerson Hall.
Nintendo DS
Due to Nintendo's use of outdated wireless technology, older Nintendo DS handhelds may not work on the ResHalls wireless. An access point has been set up for older wireless devices in the Webb Cafe at Wilkerson Hall.
PlayStation 3
After attempting to connect to the network, please open the web browser on the PlayStation 3 and sign into SafeConnect. After doing so, you should be able to connect to the PlayStation network.
Xbox 360
Xbox 360 consoles are automatically authenticated on the network, however, you must sign into Xbox Live before attempting to use any features that require Internet connectivity. If you do not have an Xbox Live account, you may sign up for one at the link below.
Live Account CreationIf you are receiving an MTU size error, please visit the below link and send us an e-mail containing the information in the "Share Your Results" box on the webpage as well as your address and contact information. Ensure your computer is connected to the same port that the console was connected to when generating results.
Speed Guide AnalyzerWhen playing games on Xbox Live, you may receive a message regarding the NAT type. Due to the scale and infrastructure of the network, not only must we use NAT to provide network connectivity to everyone, but certain technologies that could otherwise be used to alleviate the issues NAT causes are currently unavailable. ResNet Support understands that there are many residents who use Xbox 360s on the campus network and we will continue to investigate alternative solutions to the issues with NAT.
If your device is not working on the network, please call ResNet at 777-3424 for assistance.
