Meet, Eat & Learn
Our Meet, Eat & Learn series is a great opportunity to learn something new, share views and ideas, and interact with others - all while enjoying a delicious and FREE lunch. Presentation formats vary, including but not limited to: talks, panel discussions, demonstrations, and plays. Topics are ever-changing and are related to issues that affect the UND community and beyond.
Meet, Eat & Learn is held once a month from 12:00 pm to 1:00 pm at the International Centre (2908 University Avenue). These presentations are open to EVERYONE - students, faculty, staff, as well as greater Grand Forks community members.

Sept 26-Meet Eat and Learn
Speaker: Karyn Hippen
Karyn Hippen is an Administrative Secretary for the PXW Dept. at UND. She grew up in North Dakota and Wisconsin, before enlisting in the United States Navy, serving on active duty for 5 years. She then returned to the Grand Forks area where she now lives with her husband and three sons. Karyn will speak about her personal experiences with domestic violence and how these life experiences and her compassion for others is what motivates her work with Domestic Abuse and Suicide prevention and awareness.

Join us for a panel discussion on Women In Leadership. Panelists will share their views on what it means to be a leader, how being a woman has shaped their leadership experiences, and offer advice for others in reaching their individual goals.

Stress Management: How do you handle stress in your busy life?
Speaker:Stephanie Freed, Psy.D. from the UND Counseling Center will be discussing what stress is, how we get stressed, and ways to manage stress.

Body Images across Cultures
This presentation will focus on discussing body images across cultures. We will explore how body image ideals vary from culture to culture and why these differences exist. Learning about these differences will help us understand how the cultures we grew up and live in influence our views of the human body. Examples for this presentation will be taken from various African, Indian, Asian, Arab, and Western cultures.

Speaker: Panel discussion with, Maggie O'Leary, Barabara Tisi, and Nikki Berg Burin, PhD, a professor in History and Women and Gender Studies,
Join us for a panel discussion with two students and Nikki Berg Burin, PhD, a professor in History and Women and Gender Studies, as we explore the word Feminist in today's culture and explore how feminism plays a part in people's lives.
This event will introduce the "Who Needs Feminism" campaign and help kick it off at the University of North Dakota!

Join us for "A look at the past, present, and future of women in Iran"
Three Iranian women will discuss their personal journeys and share information on women's rights, culture, religion, and practices in Iran.
