Joshua Brorby
Beijing, China Spring 2011
Folks, hello. I'm an English/Chinese Studies double major, and I'm spending this semester in the Chinese capital, Beijing. I want to warn you that I don't plan on writing a conventional travel blog, but (undoubtedly, indubitably) I will end up doing so, not because I want to, but because I will slip into that writing style, and it will be comfortable and safe and easy. I promise to try to keep things fresh, to give you good reason to continue reading, following, commenting, and hitting refresh, and I sincerely hope that you'll find reason to do the aforementioned. I can't summarize life in China for you, and I would hate to even try to boil something so complex down to a simple lie, especially when I'm approaching this from a foreigner's perspective, so instead I will promise you interesting writing, and I hope that will suffice. Sabrina Frost
University of Brighton, England Fall 2010
Hey all! I am just a few short weeks away from a red eye to Heathrow International Airport from which I will embark on a 3 month adventure in Brighton, England and hopefully other European cities. I have no idea what to expect but I have heard the city of Brighton is nothing short of amazing! I am also very fortunate to have friends living throughout England and Wales and hope to explore many of their hometowns and experience typical British life. I am most excited for English breakfast, the Brighton Pier, traveling Europe, and studying in a quintessential college town. Visit Sabrina's blog.
Megan Riederer
Bilbao, Spain Spring 2010
Tomorrow I will embark upon the longest journey of my life to date. I will get on a plane just a few hours from my home, but when I land I will be 4,500 miles away. In a different time zone. A different world. I have told many of my friends and family in recent days that the stress and nervousness has been outweighing the excitement, but that is soon to change. What’s packed is packed, what’s done is done. Now I just have to get on the plane and begin to soak up each moment. Visit Megan's blog.
Alisha Schloesser
Costa Rica Spring 2010
So I’m beginning my blog with the same attitude that I have toward this trip. I am jumping in head first, with excitement and a bit of nervous anticipation. I currently am sitting in the Phoenix International Airport, awaiting to board my plane to Costa Rica. The whole week leading up to my departure as been a rollercoaster of emotions. I would like to consider myself a fairly independent person, with a burning desire to soak in everything the world has to offer me, but even for me this is a leap. Visit Alisha's blog.
Kelli Bren
Université de Caen Basse-Normandie Spring 2010
Kelli is a "SuperSenior" at the University of North Dakota where she got the opportunity to exchange with some lucky, cold-resistant student at the Université de Caen Basse-Normandie. She is studying French in Caen for 4.5 months and will be blogging quite frequently about her giggle sessions, meltdowns, jet lag and language barriers via amusing and linguistic skillz.Back home in Minnesota, she has a dysfunctionally functional nuclear family, a fish named Beta Betta and boatloads of fantastically hysterical friends who drink entirely too much coffee and make her life spicy. Visit Kelli's blog.
Andrew Scott
American College of Thessaloniki, Greece Fall 2009
This will be my first time traveling to Europe and I plan on taking advantage of every learning opportunity. I know there is just a ton of blogs out there; I would like to make this fun and innovative with stories, pictures, and videos. I’ve asked family and friends what they would like to know about while abroad, I’d like to hear from you too, so the more comments and suggestions the better. I hope you enjoy the adventure as well! Chelsey Smith
University of Sunshine Coast, Australia Spring 2009
Arrived at about 5 am and reception was not open until 6:30. Hung out in McDonalds, took a walk, and got some fresh air. Katie and I were delirious and bouncing off the walls. The others probably hated us! Oh well that’s what happens when I don’t sleep. After a while Katie, Wes, and I claimed the car and passed out. Britt and Pat experienced a beautiful sunrise over the harbor. Soon enough reception at the hostel opened and we all went and took over the couches in their common area…at least we were able to get a good couple hours of sleep in us! Visit Chelsey's blog.
