Courses to Meet Training Standards for All School Nutrition Employees

The University of North Dakota provides a variety of 2 hour CE (continuing education) courses that will assist you in meeting your required training as a school nutrition professional. You may select any course from the menu on the left to achieve your training requirement. Each course is offered online, and competitively priced at $20.00 per course.

USDA has established minimum professional standards requirements for school nutrition professionals who manage and operate the National School Lunch and School Breakfast Programs. These standards are a key provision of the Healthy, Hunger-Free Kids Act of 2010; aiming to institute annual training standards for all school nutrition professionals.

Training Standards for All School Nutrition Program Employees

Directors:

12 hours of annual continuing education/training in addition to food safely training required in the first year of employment

All Managers:

10 hours of annual continuing education/training

All Other Staff:

6 hours of annual continuing education/training if working at least 20 hours per week

Part-Time Staff:

4 hours of annual continuing education/training, regardless of the number of part-time hours worked
