You've been accepted to your Study Abroad program. Now what?
The International Center provides a Pre-Departure Orientation that is required of all students who are going abroad in a summer, semester, or full-year program. Pre-Departure Orientation will cover academics abroad, health and safety, legal issues, packing tips, culture shock, and more.
Previous study abroad participants will be in attendance and a large portion of time will be devoted to giving you time to talk with the previous participants and get their tips about the location(s) you are going to.
Specific dates and times of Pre-Departure Orientation will be in your acceptance letter.
All students going abroad will have the option to be connected to a mentor, a UND student was abroad during a previous term. The Office of International Programs tries to match students with mentors who went on their same program or location whenever possible.
Mentors are a great resource to ask questions about packing, the city you will be in, what life is like abroad, and many other questions. If you would like to get in touch with a Study Abroad Alumni before applying to go abroad, you can find their information at the bottom or our Student Stories page.
Your Traveler Profile guides you through the study abroad process. Make sure you log in periodically to read important documents and submit required forms.
It is your responsibility to continue to check your Traveler Profile throughout the study abroad process to see if you have new items to complete.
Study Abroad Drop Permission Hold on Campus Connection
A hold will be placed on all study abroad students' Campus Connection accounts. This hold only prevents you from dropping a course during the semester you are abroad. It does not prevent you from registering for future terms. If you need to drop a UND class during the term you are abroad, please contact the Education Abroad Office.
