Biography
An engineer by training and profession, James (Jim) Casler is currently a Professor and Chair of the Department of Space Studies, University of North Dakota, where his interdisciplinary lectures concern management and risk, among other topics. After a career in the Marine Corps as an aviator, test pilot, instructor, and commander, he spent ten years in an engineering services firm as an engineering and manager. His doctoral work and subsequent research has dealt largely with the cognitive performance of the human in space, high reliability organizations, and organizations for human space exploration.
